I started rockhounding after a summer trip to the Oregon coast. During a walk along the beach, I picked up a few agates and quickly found myself wanting to look closer, learn more, and keep searching for the next interesting stone. What began as a simple beach walk turned into a curiosity about how rocks form, where they come from, and what stories they can tell.

Field 2 Polish is my way of documenting that journey. I am a hobbyist collector, not a professional geologist, but I approach each find with a citizen-science mindset: recording locations, photographing specimens, researching local geology, and learning what materials can be found near me in Nevada and in the places I travel.

I am especially interested in following a stone through its full transformation — from field discovery and identification clues to tumbling, polishing, and the final finished piece. For me, rockhounding is part outdoor exploration, part geology lesson, and part quiet obsession.
